Proper Handling Of Etched Glass

For those people who love to cook a nice pantry is usually on their wish list.  One of the ways to make a pantry really pop is to have a nice pantry door with etched glass.  The reason is, while we want it to be nice, we don’t necessarily want everyone to see in the pantry, especially if it is a little messy.  Here are a few tips for you, when you get that new pantry door.

  • When preparing it to be painted or stained, make sure you use quality blue tape.  You don’t want to leave any residue on the etching from tape.  Using blue tape that is more delicate and doesn’t release glue to the surface is a must.  Blue tape is also better at preventing bleed through of paint or stain onto the glass.
  • Always make sure you seal the tops and bottoms of any wood doors, even when they are interior doors.  This helps prevent absorption of moisture, and subsequently warping and twisting.  You also void manufacturer warranty if you don’t seal the top & bottom.
  • If you do accidently get paint or stain on the glass, be very careful how you try to remove it.  It is very easy to ruin the etching, and you don’t want to pay a few hundred dollars to redo it on your new door.  If you do get paint or stain on the etching, use Goof Off or paint thinner to remove it.  Do not rub it in or around, this will ruin the etching, instead let it sit and then dab at it gently.
  • When it comes to cleaning, you also need to be gentle with it.  Make sure you instructions for cleaning from the manufacturer.  If they don’t provide you with any, then use a damp soft cloth, and don’t rub to hard.  The rubbing is what can dull the finish, and change the look of the etching.

While an etched door is a great addition to any pantry and kitchen, they do require a little different care.  So be careful, know the care instructions, and enjoy.

Hiring Brooks Painting was an easy and professional process the whole way through, from the estimate to the completion of having my very high walls edged, where I was unable to reach them. Crew Leader Eric was prompt and super capable, which was a relief since he had to maneuver and climb a very tall ladder. He was also in the process of teaching a newer painter and I admired his positive and encouraging manner. In addition, he was willing to respond to my requests with ease. No regrets here! The edging looks amazing and only took 4 hours to complete.

Eric and his crew were on time every day and did a very thorough job. I was thrilled that they were willing to paint my outdoor light fixtures which were getting rusty. I was particularly impressed how much time they spent going over their work at the end to catch spots that were missed. I’ll be using them again for interior painting.

It was fun working with Chris and his crew. I’ve never had a contracted job go so smoothly from start to finish. The office was responsive to my needs, Corey was patient and helpful while I made color choices, and Chris made sure I was happy with the crew’s work every step of the way. Gabriel does amazing work as well. Very much a perfectionist like Chris. I don’t have a bad thing to say. The job is absolutely stunning and I’ve had so many neighbors tell me it’s beautiful. I’m happy to put one of your signs in my front yard if you’d like so people know as they drive by who did the work. Thank you Brooks Painting. I will be recommending you to anybody who asks.

Brooks Painting painted our home in Sacramento in March of 2022. Tim did a great job power washing our home. Corey, Flint, and Kristen were very helpful in the bid and. planning. process. The painting crew was excellent. Arrived on time each day and the project was finished in 5 days as promised. All worked very hard.

Very professional, I appreciate the time they took to make sure everything was taken care of for my house! I really liked that Jaime stepped up and told me not to paint my front door like the house and then chose a color that worked great. Thank you!

Brooks Panting Inc. just finished painting the exterior of our house. The crew did a terrific job. The house is a mid century modern with redwood paneling and an unusual amount of trim work. The Brooks crew was efficient, the quality of the painting was exceptional and the work was completed on time! Because of the age of the house several panels needed to be replaced. Brooks had the expertise to closely match the new paneling with the old paneling. I would not hesitate to recommend this company. They are professionals!
