I’ve gone into many homes and the first thing I see on a really bad paint job is what the painting industry refers to as "holidays". Holidays are areas where you can see that they missed putting a second coat, or it didn’t cover well. It’s like they took a holiday during the painting job. One of the other details I see frequently from the “do-it-yourselfers” is bad cut in lines on the wall next to the ceiling. They’re especially visible when the texture is heavy or there are some defects in the ceiling at the wall line and when there is darker color and white ceilings.
