Crown molding has been around for a very long time. When you go into older homes built in the early 1900’s, it was a very common place. The nice thing about crown molding is that it goes in most homes, but not all. It can go in a powder bath or master bed. There is really not a room that it can’t spruce up. It goes with paint, wallpaper, faux finish, you name it.

Selecting The Right Design & Molding

One of the nice features of crown molding is the choices. The first choice you need to make is painted or stained. Then you need to choose size. The size of the room and ceiling height play a big part in determining the crown size. Smaller rooms, with lower ceilings shouldn’t have 8” crown molding. Finally you get to choose the fun part, the design. Crown molding comes in many shapes and sizes, so you can really customize your space.

Now that you picked your crown molding, it is time to get it installed. Brooks Painting will have your crown molding delivered to our shop, and spray 2 coats of a high quality acrylic paint. After we allow it to dry for a few days, we will come and install it. Then we will putty the nail holes and caulk the crown to the walls & ceiling. Then we will touch up the paint, and leave you with a beautiful looking room.

They were done separately, while we were out of town. We are very pleased with the quality of the work. They even fixed up a few mistakes made by a crew that painted a portion of our interior ceilings a month prior (removal of asbestos popcorn ceiling), at no extra charge. Cleanup was great, also. They repaired some dry rot that was uncovered (extra charge, but worth it), and they even moved furniture back into place as well as put back the curtain rods that I had taken down, which wasn't expected. I highly recommend them, and will use them again for any future paint jobs.
